About the Area:
The financial centre of London, Canary Wharf is also a residential location in its own right with every facility and amenity imaginable. The district’s 4 shopping centres cater for every need and include supermarkets, specialist boutique retailers and a wide choice of bars, cafés and restaurants to suit every taste. The West End can be reached in 15 minutes by tube and the neighbouring O2 centre offers a further vast selection of leisure and entertainment facilities.
Canary Wharf’s transformation from a weekend virtual ghost-town to a bustling residential location is all but complete. Luxury waterfront apartments abound offering contemporary, often lavish, accommodation for the area’s working population, eager to be able to walk to the office.
Transport:
The Docklands, Isle of Dogs and in particular Canary Wharf are well connected. Canary Wharf is served by the Jubilee Line, bringing the West End to within a 15 minute journey.
The Docklands Light Railway runs north-south through the area with stations at Canary Wharf, Crossharbour, Heron Quays, Island Gardens, Mudchute and South Quay, providing services to Bank, Tower Gateway, Stratford, Beckton and Lewisham.
London City Airport lies only 3 miles away, specialising in business travel to Europe.
A relatively new transport addition is the Thames Clipper river boat service that as well as operating tourist routes up and down the River Thames also provides a commuter service to Blackfriars, London Bridge, Bankside, St Katharine’s Dock, Surrey Quays, Greenwich, Woolwich Arsenal and Masthouse Terrace.
